NEWS FROM THE FARM
Farmers Growing to Taste
An increasing number of South East QLD commercial strawberry farms, that are differentiating on taste, are putting out organic slow release pelletised fertilisers this month. This cost effective and user friendly option not only helps in creating a biologically diverse productive soil, but organic nutrients that are made plant available are in a highly stable form and are known to contribute to higher Brix results in the fruit (taste) and to a significantly longer shelf life.
WHAT TO PLANT
Tropical – Basil, Ginger and Mustard Greens.
Sub-Tropical – Basil, French Tarragon, Horseradish, Oregano, Marjoram, Sage and Thyme.
Temperate – Amaranth, Basil, Borage, Coriander, Dill, Fennel, Lemon Balm and Mint.
