Coochin Creek Golf Day
Kath from Qld Organics took part in the Coochin Creek Farmers’ Golf Day recently to raise funds for the Cancer Council and the Coochin Creek Rural Fire Brigade.
This year, Kath played in a team of five including Errol Graham, the General Manager of Coochin Creek Co-Op, Mark Chalmers and Rachel Wright from Wesfarmers Insurance and Reiner Scheepers from Barmac. The weather couldn’t have been better, with beautiful sunshine, clear blue sky and a fresh breeze.
The day started at 7.30am, with the traditional beer and sausage in a bread roll breakfast. The company was fantastic as usual.
We played 5 ball Ambrose and all managed to play really well this year (we were as surprised as anyone). Between us there were some sterling shots along with some great bunker shots, a couple of balls lost to water, a birdie or two and a duck (yes, one of the team managed to collect a duck that was waddling across the fairway with one of their shots – not a happy duck!).
We were mostly on par through the day, one or two above and one or two below but finished with a collective on par score at the end of the day. At the final hole, we hugged and gloated to each other at how professional we had become, took photos of the team and headed off to lunch. We enjoyed the traditional steak, coleslaw and chips lunch, washed down with the drink of choice followed by raffle prizes and a celebration of the best performances on the day.
